About my BDSM

For me, BDSM is an interest, not an obsession.

I've been in the D/s scene on and off for about 13 years now - enough time to become well-established in what my view of it all is, and where it fits in with me.

I'm dominant, with a sadistic streak that mostly manifests itself in my humour. For me, being dominant is not a choice of role to play; it is simply the way I am. On the other hand, being sadistic or not is a choice, and one I make in favour thereof because...well, it amuses.

Needless to say, that is not the be-all and the end-all of my views on BDSM; oh, my, no.

I will add one thing though: I firmly believe that dominance is not about the destruction of a sub's self-esteem, whether it is subconsciously done, temporarily done or even only marginally done. It is possible to dominate - including humiliation and degradation - without damaging a sub's sense of self-respect and self-worth. I believe this is important.

I'm a cynical romantic.

I love to listen, laugh and talk. Relationships of all types - friends, companions, lovers - are the most important thing, and I take them seriously, but still have time to laugh at everything, including myself. Ok, and at you too.

I'm positive, I have integrity and I'm very passionate - about life, my relationships, my pastimes. I see the 'joie de vivre' as one of the most important qualities in people.

I like to push limits, explore boundaries. I've jumped out of aircraft, I ride a motorbike, I decide on a Thurdsay afternoon to go for a 4-day weekend break in some random European city. I enjoy doing everything twice (once isn't enough - you have to have time to reflect, to anticipate; you get so much more second time around).

Intensity is awesome. And can be as scary as hell. Some put great stock in always being easy-going, and never seeming to care about anything to any depth; I couldn't do that. I am intense; some like it, some don't. Doesn't stop me being laid back on some occasions and as silly as hell on others, though. Intensity can be draining, however much fun it is - you need the odd silly break!

As to what I'm looking for...well, if you like what you've just read you're in the minority group that I'm interested in. If it reflects your views then all the better.
