| Well after a break my old and new profiles are reunited and I'm probably going to go by my old name of Wonderer. | The mornings are brighter as one wakes. Outside the window we have cascades of creamy white fragrant flowers of clematis armandii 'apple blossom', and the camelia is ablaze with blousy pink blossoms. Underneath crocuses and primulas are making their appearance. The sun is shining. And for a while one can forget the cold economic climate, the threats of global warming and environmental chaos, a world rent asunder with warfares and hatreds; we can for a while focus on what is beautiful. | Perhaps it's a middle-aged thing. But it's very liberating. I find myself now being able and keen to admire without wanting. Not always, but increasingly. Happy that beauty exists and for others to possess. Even happier for things to be in public possession, in a museum or gallery, for all to admire. [more...] | ||

| I'd quite forgotten how good oxtail was, and especially the stock which you can get from it. Have just cooked some in the pressure cooker; smelled gorgeous and I sneaked a taste as I separated meat from bones. The meat and stock are now in a basin in the fridge, so I can skim off the fat before making soup tomorrow. My beloved doesn't fancy the meat but loves the soup - so I get the meat later! She knows I get up to bachelor type stuff when she goes away (as she will on Monday) but probably never imagined anything as perverted as eating oxtails! [more...] | ||
