| I recently discovered that my child's father has terminal cancer and at best he has less than a year to live. Understandably he has found it diffiicult to face up to the news and it has been difficult to get much information from him as he has been struggling to take this in. | I'm not sure if I wasn't there or I wasn't paying attention on the day when they taught punctuation. Perhaps I was dreaming of The Bay City Rollers and admiring my lurex tank top and tartan trim on my flares. Wishing desperately for cork soled platforms instead of sensible shoes but grammar seems to have passed me by. Commas are a mystery, semi-colons a foreign country. If in doubt I leave them out. I don't want to spend the rest of my life in the limbo of the bewildered by commas, semi-colons and colons. Any tips or pointers from lovely, kind Grammar Pedants would be appreciated. [more...]

| "I know you won't let me drown" he said as I removed the hessian from his face and he had recovered enough from near drowning to speak. It had long been an ambition of mine to try this. Edgy stuff though and in many people's opinions too dangerous for any responsible dom to submit their submissive to. Apparently you needed a lifeguard and someone trained in advanced resuscitation techniques on standby and a team of counsellors to deal with the subsequent trauma. | I was smoking a cigarette outside the cinema, vacuuming the smoke into my lungs, speed smoking in an effort to get the maximum nicotine in the available time before the start of the film when I noticed a couple with a young child looking at the programme times.Nothing unusual about this snapshot of cosy domesticity but something in the picture was wrong, the woman appeared to have forgotten her skirt. | I attend my GP's surgery very rarely mainly because I tend to believe any illnesses I suffer are caused by hypochondria. This can be counterproductive like the time I had quinsy. The doctor told me quinsy is very rare these days and implied that any reasonable person would have attended for treatment before it developed to that stage. It is complicated by the fact that I have managed to diagnose myself correctly (confirmed by a psychiatrist) on one occasion with a form of manic depression. This caused a long period of worry and way too much reading of linkage all of it doom and gloomy, watching [more...]
