| I was enjoying my Sunday morning ritual of reading the British Journal of Photography this morning, when I was struck by the sad news that Bettie Page died on Thursday last week. It was printed in a tiny foot note in the other-news column and I was shocked when I read it. I haven't thought about Bettie for years and years, but when I was first discovering S&M she was a big influence on me. Back before the days of the internet, the thousands of kinky pictures which she appeared in were the best printed S&M imagery around (for me, anyway) and I spent many a long hour in her company. The request came from a sub friend of mine who wanted to be forced to smoke, but not by physical-force (i.e. being held and having a fag stuffed in her mouth) or by instruction. | It's not as easy as you might think, coming to terms with your own bdsm sexuality. Just because you consciously think that you have an understanding of and a right to be kinky, doesn't mean that you actually believe it. | Last night I watched “What's Inside Frank Sinatra's Coffin?” and it got me thinking. In Sinatra's will he requested that five people each place a particular everyday object in his coffin. The significance of the items was not explained in the will, but through investigation it was revealed what each one may have meant to old blue eyes. Of course the stories were great – a showbiz big break, a lost love, the safe return of his son from kidnappers, his mob connections and a lifelong love of JD. | I spent the afternoon burning old bits of wood in my basement fireplace. I couldn't think of an appropriate way of starting my first blog on IC.
