27 today! Have been flatlined most of the day with a Godzilla of a hangover but otherwise things are looking pretty good. Was a great birthday bash, and I must confess I might have got a bit tipsy. Not that I remember that much about it. I love birthday drunkeness though. Absolutely no accountability and guaranteed that somebody will carry me home. Gives me a chance to approach the night out with a great sense of personal invincibility, nothing and nobody can hurt me, until the hangover, but there are some occassions worth taking the pain for. | Yay I'm back in the family homestead sunny Bedfordshire. A short break, headed back to London on Sunday. While it's only about an hour away on the train there is such a difference between the two places. When I left Bedfordshire to seek my fortune in the big city I was sick to my arse of it. | Off to Prague this weekend. Should be nice. I like Eastern Europe a lot, not sure why. Maybe just curiousity, maybe something more to it. I'll ponder it on the plane. This is my second trip across the iron curtain in two months and I'm looking forward to it, though I think it'll soon be time to hunker down financially for Chrimbo and the inevitable and total chaos that is bound to accompany it. | So I went to Hades after being edgy as hell about the whole deal. I enjoyed it and hopefully not too many people thought I was a buffoon. I think I may have talked waaaay too much, and I usually have only an hour or so of good conversation in me, so apologies to all I rambled at . | So food and MSN are tied together, cos using the MSN the wise and all knowing Katya told me how to pan fry salmon fillets as opposed to grilling them. Cooking for one is always good, cos I know that it's all mine when it's done (the housemates are out doing the whole spending time as a couple thing). Being a younger brother it is in my nature to be something of a greedyguts (never know when big brother or big sis might decide to steal the good snap) so I like to be able to hunt around the kitchen like a civilised version of the Bushtucker Man looking for stuff to cook up. | So last night I found that I had an unexpected room mate. A little mouse to be precise, whom I have named Dave. Dave seems to live in the airing cupboard near the hot water tank. While he is, like all wild mice, quite cute and fuzzy the fact is that he has got to go. He's not paying rent and if he starts bringing little lady mice home it'd just be too awkward, I mean I barely know him so I'm not comfortable with him shagging in my cupboards. | I have identified the little furry fellow living in my house (known as Dave) to be a field mouse. This is good because it means he's not here as part of some sort of plague, which means my housekeeping record remains untarnished. | Well today I am going to make an attempt to overcome my writers bungee. It's a bit like writers block, except rather than stopping me from progressing it simply makes progress progressively more difficult until it yoinks me back to where I started. The best way to overcome it is to plan out little creative handholds along the way, so I don't lose confidence in the work and so I'm not dragged back, then hopefully the bungee snaps and off I can scoot. That's the theory and in metaphor land it's sound. Not sure how it affects reality though. [more...] | ||

| So England won the cricket. Happy day. Well actually a very stressful day, but the pay off was worth it. For those who don't understand sport think of it like gambling, you gamble however much happiness you want on a sporting result (maybe only a little bit if you don't care, maybe you could be willing to suffer depression for a week if the team loses) and then if the result comes in you get the pay off.
