[about=Transvestism]Transvestism[/about] (also seen shortened to [b]tv[/b] or [b]TV[/b]) is the act of wearing the clothing of another gender, normally because the dresser wants to pass as a member of the opposite sex.

It can be seen as a deeper attachment to the element of [about=Cross Dressing]Cross Dressing[/about] which is just wanting to wear articles of clothing associated with the opposite sex, but not emulate the opposite sex. See [about=Bobette]Bobette[/about] and [about=Eddie Izzard]Eddie Izzard[/about] ;-)

Some use the terms interchangably, but many TVs feel that they want more than just to cross dress.

A transvestite in the [about=feminisation]feminisation[/about] realm is often called a sissy or a sissy maid.
