The term sexual identity is used to describe the gender or sex with which a person identifies, or is identified, regardless of their biological gender.
A sexual identity is not the result of something that occurs at one point in time, although some scientists and many laymen seek "causes" of sexual identity, especially where it differs from the biological gender.
