When used in terms of sexuality, queer is used in reference to homosexual or bisexual men and women, and other sexual minorities.
It is considered by some to be offensive and derisive, and by others merely an inoffensive adjective or noun for people whose sexual orientation and/or gender identity or gender expression does not conform to societal norms.
Queer is also used sometimes to generically refer to people involved in BDSM, especially S&M or other paraphilias.
