A munch is an informal meeting of people interested in [about=BDSM]BDSM[/about]/[about=fetish]fetish[/about] - an opportunity to meet like-minded people, talk, find out about good [about=clubs]clubs[/about] or fetishy [about=shops]shops[/about], pass on advice.  For many, it's their first foray into the scene.  Most munches take place in pubs or similar "ordinary" venues.  They're almost always "[about=vanilla]vanilla[/about]" - i.e. ordinary clothes and no play. Oh - and the men always seem to drastically outnumber the women...  And since you ask, the daft name was an American invention.
