A thin leather ribbon used to tie the end of the foreskin tightly and prevent the exposure of the glans. In ancient Greece, whilst nudity might have been admired, particularly in athletes, the glans was considered obscene. The other end of the kynodesme can be tied to the root of the penis so the penis arches upward, or it can be attached to a waist band to expose the scrotum.
