Any sexual behaviour performed by two people can be a part of group sex, as well as a number of behaviors only possible with more than two people. Group sex involving a single female or male and multiple males is sometimes termed a [about=gang bang]gang bang[/about].

The same [about=safe sex]safe sex[/about] considerations that apply to normal sex apply to group sex, for the same reasons. People who have group sex may have higher numbers of sexual partners, and may for this reason be more likely to have [about=sexually transmitted disease]sexually transmitted disease[/about]s (STDs) or to be at risk for STDs than those who have fewer sexual partners.

Group sex occurs amongst people of all [about=sexual orientation]sexual orientation[/about]s, but may or may not involve [about=homosexual]homosexual[/about], [about=bisexual]bisexual[/about] or [about=heterosexual]heterosexual[/about] contact though sex involving three or more people must necessarily involve multiple members of the same sex.
