Extreme pornopgraphy is a legal term used and introduced by the government of the United Kingdom as part of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008, that made possession of images deemed to be 'extreme pornography' a criminal offence from 26th January 2009.
It is defined as pictorial material (moving or still) that is assumed to have been produced solely for sexual arousal that is "grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character", and portrays any of the following:
and a reasonable person looking at the image would think that any such person or animal was real.
