Burlesque was originally a form of art that mocked by imitation; in the 20th and 21st centuries, burlesque has come to be a genre of adult entertainment, focusing on aspects of humor, satire and sexual tantalization. The classic period of burlesque was the first half of the 20th century (after which the word tended to be misappropriated for use in advertising generic girlie shows). However, there has been a revival of burlesque in the last few years, the "New Burlesque".
In terms of Fetish Fashion, it is at the softer end of the scale.External Links
