Night of the Senses

Friday 12th September 2008

Night of the Senses is a charity night of sensuality and erotic adventure. It raises money for the Outsiders Trust a charity which, amongst other things, campaigns for the acceptance of disabled people as sexual partners.

NoS is an open minded and accessible night for the vanilla, the kinky, the curious, the disabled, the able bodied; whether you're an exhibitionist, a voyeur or just want a night out that you'll never forget.

NoS is for anyone interested in sex or sensuality...

As well as the awards, shows, dancefloor and chill out lounge you can enjoy:

  • * Bar of Delicious Encounters
  • * Breast Fondling Booth - Ladies only, Men by Consent
  • * Climax Clinic – for women only
  • * Erotic Awards Finals Show and Presentations
  • * Gay Lo Café
  • * GongBong Dance & Pole Dancing room
  • * Grope Box
  • * Naked Lounge
  • * Photo Booth
  • * Piddling Pool
  • * Playroom
  • * Room of Riotous Pleasures
  • * Spanking Bandstand
  • * Upskirt Experience

Or any of the other treasures and treats that you fancy...

I wish to point out that the dungeon here is amazing. It's got lots of furniture, enough space to swing a -very- large cat and enough light to do so safely.

Tickets are £60 (£30 concessions) or £45 for groups of 5+ (they encourage odd numbers!)

Invite all your friends - if they like sex and/or sensuality and are open minded then they'll like this!

I'll be there as head steward for the Erotic Art Exhibition, with my team, who are all beautiful. :*

Rod will be there as an official photographer.

We will be bringing a few hundred feet of rope if anyone's interested in that whole perverse bondage thing... :-p

Skin Two has a pretty good review of the night and not only because it includes a photo of me :-p

Just to add that, apart from all the other many attractions at NoS, the Roissy Dungeon last year contained far and away the best built, most wide-ranging collection of dungeon apparatus I've ever seen in one place.

The Roissy people were there to answer questions about it and adjust it for different users (and in passing put on a stunning display of breath play).

And Outsiders is a very good cause to support...

It's not cheap, but it's a fund-raiser for a very worthwhile charity. And it's a fantastic night!

It costs not much more than RB; and minus the elitists, tourists, drug addicts and people who wouldn't know dungeon etiquette if it castrated them with a rusty spoon; plus the million more things to do and the space to do them; multiplied by the great variety of people there... makes it an all round much better night out!

It's also only once a year, and it's all for charity.

I can't abide this charity and the fundraising event and an example of how it's all so so wrong follows (from night of the senses website!). thank goodness nobody else does it!

"NIGHT OF THE SENSES 2008 APOLOGY TO WHEELCHAIR USERS AND PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY IMPAIRMENTS We are sad to announce that our Ball this year at Mass has become unsuitable for wheelchair users and people with mobility impairments...... "

see the rest here http://www.nightofthesenses.com/static/disabled_...

but never mind it makes the non disabled people FEEL so good to raise cash for the 'get the cripples a shag' charideeee anyway...

don't waste your money guys... if you wanna help disabled people get socially accepted and get a shag spend it on writing a letter to your local kink venue and asking them to improve the access for all .. it's cheaper (by aprox £59.50) and it's more likely to actually affect some change. take a disabled mate to a club instead.

....that patronising charity stinks I wouldn't touch it with a condom covered barge pole. It's the disability charity version of a pity fuck club.

this definition gives a lot away about what I think this patronising and embarrassing charity sets up to be honest.

How dare you tell me, or anyone else who's attending this event, what our motives are?

And lest anyone should be inclined to believe this dishonest post, here's what the website actually says about the access problems. What would you have them do, degenerate? Cancel the whole night because you've taken offense?

The whole story...

We are sad to announce that our Ball this year at Mass has become unsuitable for wheelchair users and people with mobility impairments, because the lift has broken down, and will take two months to repair.

Although Babalou is on the flat, it would become an unworkable traffic jam if all our regular wheelchair-using guests were concentrated in this room. Plus there is only one disabled toilet there (in the gents).

We are therefore apologising to wheelchair users that we can only admit a few people who are happy to stay in Babalou (and the outdoor terrace) for the entire night. This will be on a first-come basis.

Those with mobility impairment not using chairs (and those who are light weight and don't mind being lifted / carried) should know that the Dungeon and Playroom are situated on the first floor. The Dance Room, Café Shebeen, the Erotic Awards Show, Cabaret, Boys Back Room, Room of Riotous Pleasures (Greedy Girls), Dark Room, Photo Booth and Massage Garden are on the 3 rd Floor, a long way up a spiral marble staircase.

The only wheelchair accessible features of the Ball are: Hospitality Desk Calabar Café, Sensuality Chamber (couples only), Fuck for Forest, Women's Womb, Tantric Cavern, Salon of the Senses, Breast Fondling, Cautious Caning, Lap Dancing, Temporary Tattoos, Novice Avenue, the Erotic Awards Exhibition, Faerie Circle, International Union of Sex Workers' Marquee, Dressing Up Shoppe and Changing Room.

Should you wish to discuss the accessibility of the event, our ticket-seller Els is happy to speak to you on the telephone on 0707 499 0808.

Once more, please accept my apologies and apologies from our team, and from the manager of Mass, for what must be a big disappointment for many.

We hope this years disappointment won't put you off coming next year. We look forward to seeing you in 2009!

Tuppy

ahhh, thats the whole crappy trouble with the built environment that has for so long excluded Disabled People - and remember, thats often nine tenths of the problem - thats often the real thing that 'disables' someone, ie prevents them from being able to take part in society as fully as they would like to. Steps! Bargain basements! For such a long time Disabled People have been excluded from taking part in society, simply because they could not access it, and then of course they 'need' all that 'help' don't they? Stick something out of reach of someone and they have to ask you to get it for them, when you've got the time, and of course they must be grateful to you for that help - an insidious trap.

Its a very demoralising situation, still, to this day. However, with the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act - although full of loopholes - the world is slowly changing for the better, access has improved, its now less and less acceptable for Disabled People to have to have segregated holidays, or segregated 'special' workplaces or places of education.

Its a great shame about the lift breaking down at this venue. But, doesn't it say something - and something not very good - that it will take so long to repair it.

Why? Why isn't it a priority? Why will it take so long?

Thats such a puzzle.

Still, personally I see no reason for charities like The Outsiders to still need to exist, just like charities that provide segregated holiday homes, when the law of the land says that all holiday venues should be accessible, and that all Disabled People should have an equal right and an equal expectation of taking part in all levels of society.

We're damned if we do and damned if we don't...So we might as well do.
