Given the amount of grief that we get as Pro-Dommes, from the crappy memos and insults to the out and out attacks on threads started by people so they can call us all prostitutes and tell us we charge too much, is it time we started to set an entry exam for subs?
Should we start with a couple of pages of psychometric testing to get rid of the loonies?
Maybe progressing onto a basic English test where we can see if they are capable of reading and understanding basic instructions?
Then perhaps a long exam where they not only have to tell us what they've experienced, but provide references that we can check to prove that they really have had fifty stokes of a dragon cane without screaming/fainting/puking before we strap them down and find out they've never even seen a cane before.
Does the entry bar need raising above the ability to pay tribute?

Well from what I've read here and from most of the Dommes I know, we all have our own selection process that goes much further than simply an ability to pay.
For example, I usually accept about 50% of enquiries - I know lots of Mistresses who do the same.
I would say the bar is already raised!

Oh no, I agree!
But I do think that these people tend to find out the hard way and I hope that they continue to do so as that way, they're so much easier to spot!

I dunno, this is a free access site, and much the better for it, but the number of semi-literate trolls and wannabes and keyboard warriors on this particular board threatens to make it cease to function. I know that lots of people have given up on it already, people who have much experience and many insights to share.
Dunno what the answer is - the other parts of IC work through self moderation and the occassional 'clunking fist', so to speak, but this bit doesn't seem to, which I think is a great pity. It's the same most places I have looked at, anything connected to professional domination seems to attract the twonkers and one hand typists like nothing else.
Maybe we collectively need to be more disciplined about not feeding the trolls, but I know as well as anyone that when personally insulted it is hard not to respond, or make a little sport, perhaps. The one insulting me at the moment is classic - can't spell, complete idiot, I could have a lot of lulz crapping on that one, were I so inclined. But the end result is threads get nasty and potentially worthwhile discussions go off the rails. And of course more and more of the good people we do want to engage with keep away. If anyone has a good strategy, I'd love to hear it!
ETA: D'oh! wrong profile! Never mind - I think these comments stand for the non-pro people, clients, those genuinely interested, as well.
