Mock the Week (42)

BBC 2 last night. Inevitably for a news quiz, it had a section on the MM case. This was full of repeated and pointed use of the word prostitute to describe the women involved. Now I assume the production lawyer reviewed the tape after the recording if not there during it and said that it was fine. But lawyers can be wrong, it's the judge or juries decision that counts.
I think they are depending on Woman A-D being unwilling to go to court because they would be outed?
Is this the way a broadcaster funded by all television viewers, of all sexualities, should be behaving? Life is not a munch.
You do not need to wear a label to join in

1: Pro Dommes do fall within the technical definition of a prostitute.
2: If I remember right, even by the Pro Domme's own special definition of a prostitute, these still fall in because Max Mosely had sex with at least one of them. "Honesty is the most offensive thing in the world."

My favourite was "Of course he's been to a Nazi-themed orgy - he was conceived at one!"
Though I guess one has to be aware of the Mitford girls' reputations for that to register

Just a thought it is a comedy show, they took the piss and it was actually quite funny!
If we take ourselves too seriously in public we will make ourselves a laughing stock!
Save or venom for those who are removing our civil liberties as they are doing real harm.
Those who are having a laugh at our expense do no long term damage (in the same show they also lampooned the mail, the sun and the notw).
Keep in in perspective and we will win! I think therefore I am!

The ruling doesn't have much to say about whether the "prostitute" label was justified or not, and only covers it in passing:
"121. As it happens, some of the women were rather reluctant to accept the description “prostitute”. (For the purposes of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, the term is defined by reference to providing “sexual services” in return for payment: s.51(2) of the Act.) Several of them offer a variety of services on their website (usually spanking or being spanked in various guises) but expressly warn that they do not offer specifically sexual services. They apparently made an exception in “Mike’s” case and threw in a bit of sex, as it were, as an “extra” between friends. Indeed, sometimes they were not paid at all. As they liked the premises and found the atmosphere relaxing and congenial, things developed from there, Indeed, although the Claimant’s sexual activity as revealed in the DVD material did not seem to amount to very much, some of the women stayed on after the party was over and indulged in same sex action purely for their own entertainment." Section 63 criminalises "extreme" images of consenting adults - see http://www.backlash-uk.org.uk/ and http://www.seenoevil.org.uk/wiki/index.php/Main_... .
